Accidentally Killed. A aad aoeident aceurred at Shelby villa, at 4 o'clock yesterday, reHultiog In. the 'instant death of Cassle, the handsome eighties r-old daughter of Jerome Aull. The little girl, in company with Joe Fastlaben, aged twelve Tears, was at the residence of, Duputy eway from home, when, the boy got hold of a loaded rille and by, mistake discharged it from a window, the girl stranding on the sidewalk. The ball penetrated the right shoulder and on tered the heart, causing death almost instantly.

Reunion. The local committee for the reunion of tho brigade composed of the 8th and I8th Indiana Infantry and 1st Indiana Battery met yesterday afternoon. George Whitfield Carr, president, Yd William U. English, principal secretary. of the constitution convention of 1850, have issued a call inviting the surviving members there-of to meet st English's Opera-house, in Indianapolis on Monday, October 5, the thirtyfifth anniversary. The call includes an in vitalion to the surviving members of the first legislature udder the new Constitution. Franklin Hardin represent; ed Johnson county in the convention, and Uilderoy Hicks in tbe legislature.

Our Public Schools. i A representative of the Daily Herald visited the puhlic school building for a short time, this morning. Everything was found to be in the best possible condition. The janitor has been engaged weeks in cleaning and renovating the different rooms, and has succeeded admirably.

Tho high -school room has been greatly improved, by boing newly papered, the paporing being of blended shades as not to be at all detrimental to tbe eyes. This was needed badly, and the mechanical work reflects crodit upon Mossrs. Will Clark and Frank McClanahan, who did the work, undor the supervision of I. 8. Tracey.

The privy vaults have been entirely cleaned, something which should have been done years ago, as they were very offensive to tho neighborhood. The trustees propose to separate the boys and girls in the play-ground, by a fence, which is also a good change. They also propose to separate the small, or infant scholars, from the larger ones, as experience has taught the teachers that Urge, rough boys and girls are very apt to Impose on the smaller ldren during play hours. are glad to learn that the aug geation of ths Daily Herald, as to securing fitting water for the scholars, has been hooded by the trustees. They are making arrangements to sink one or two driven wells immediately, that the health of the pupils may not be oopnrdised by using the filtjiy stujT which is ndw only available.

We look forward to the coming school as one which will' reflect credit upon all who will be connected with the sohools. Tbe touchers have been carefully, selected, and judiciously assigned.
