to 5 p.m. on Washington Street between Fourth and Seventh streets. Free. Featuring 76 artists from nine states displaying and selling painting, pottery, jewelry, woodworking, metal work, you name it. Fall Fashion Show 11:30 a.m.

to 1 p.m. at YES Cinema, Fourth and Jackson streets. Tickets cost $18 at the door, with proceeds going to the nonprofit Dancers Studio Inc. and nonprofit YES Cinema. Fashions will be from and Child, plus costumes from the Smiling Dog Costume Shop.

Taming the Fire: Glassblowing Workshop 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., under a tent at Fourth and Washington streets. Glass artist Lisa Pelo will guide participants in making glass paperweights. While those workshop slots are full, the public can watch Pelo do free demonstrations and purchase her creations. Family Fest 11 a.m.

to 3 p.m. at Mill Race Park on Fifth Street, with a heavy emphasis on activities, including a magic show, bike rodeo, climbing wall, bounce house, dunk tank and face painting. For the adults, 40 Years of College will entertain with classic rock. Admission and many games are free. Tickets for some games are 50 cents.

Plenty of preparation Some East students said they spent hours making their togas to match their fan section themes. North students dug up big, furry winter hats and snow ski goggles to look the part for their theme. Early arrivals Some fans arrived hours early.
