Special 'Children of Divorce' Session To Start Wednesday of Divorce," program offered by Family Service of Bartholomew County, will offer a session for divorced parents and their children, beginning, Wednesday. be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday through Nov. 18. Children from 6 to 12 years old and their parents may participate in the workshops.

The goal of the program is to help children adjust to the divorce of their parents and to help parents discuss divorce with their children. Included in workshop activities are role playing, games for the children, simulated family interaction and separate discussion groups for parents and children. Participants are encouraged to share their feelings and concerns with each other and with their peers. Each discussion group is led by two counselors, and concerns expressed in each group remain confidential. The adult group is designed to help parents become more sensitive to the feelings of their children, while the children's discussion group attempts to help the child trust other people.

Before and after each session, participants are given a questionnaire to determine whether the program has helped them adjust to the divorce. "One thing that the evaluation of the program has shown," said Family Service executive director Elizabeth Morris, "is that the kids who participate feel much more in control of their lives, therefore more secure and less fright- ened, than they did prior to the of Divorce" is offered to all children a and parents affected by divorce, regardless of when the divorce occurs. It was begun in January 1980 and is funded by a grant from the State Division of Addiction Services. Interested persons may re ceive further information by, calling Family Service at 372- 3745 or by visiting the office, located at 712 Washington.
