A wonderful profile picture of Lady Evelyn Herbert, only daughter of Almina, 5th Countess of Carnarvon. The Americans drooled over the fact that Evelyn was to marry a man with an American mother. During Lord Carnarvon's final illness ( terminal cancer - to which Evelyn may not have been made fully aware) stood loyally by the Earl's side until Almina arrived from England to see the poor fellow slip away peacefully.
